Pilote de la FFSA Academy et Membre du Pôle France Espoir pour cette nouvelle rentrée, Ayrton Marquet a accepté de revenir sur sa jeune carrière.

Tu as commencé le karting fin 2016. Comment est venue cette passion pour le sport automobile ?
C'est venu grâce à mon père. Petit, je ne m'y intéressais pas plus que cela. Mon père m'a transmis cette passion. Il m'a acheté un vieux kart. On s'est entraîné sur une piste et c'est là que j'ai commencé à aimer cela. On a acheté un nouveau kart pour faire de la compétition.

As-tu eu peur de te lancer dans ce sport ?
Non, au début, je n'ai pas eu peur de cela.

Quelle a été la réaction de tes parents quand tu as dit « je veux faire ça » ?
Mon père était extrêmement content. Ma mère était contente pour moi aussi, même si elle avait un peu peur.

Championnat de France Junior Karting FFSA Academy, un passage obligé d’après Ayrton

Cette année, tu as intégré la FFSA Academy Junior Karting et tu as couru le championnat de France FFSA Academy. Peux-tu nous faire un bilan de cette première partie de saison ?
C'est un bilan positif pour moi. J'ai progressé tout au long de la saison. Je finis dernier de ma première course au Mans parce que c'était compliqué. Le niveau était haut. Mais au fur et à mesure des meetings, j'ai progressé grâce au coach et aux acquisitions de données. J'ai pris confiance en moi. J'ai intégré le top 5 dans les derniers meetings.
Didier Blot, mon coach, m'a également aidé à progresser. La FFSA m'encadre aussi et c'est important pour moi.

Premiers Tests en F4 cet été au Paul Ricard

Récemment, tu as fait ton premier test en F4. Comment as-tu été sélectionné ?
C'est Christophe Lollier, directeur technique national de la FFSA, qui me l’a proposé bien je sois un rookie en karting. J'ai été remarqué par le staff de la FFSA Academy lors des différents meetings en championnat de France Junior Karting. J’ai fait tout mon possible pour progresser et je crois avoir eu la plus grosse marge de progression de la saison

Comment s'est passé le test en lui-même ?
Je n'avais jamais roulé dans une monoplace, d’ailleurs même pas dans une voiture. C'était tout nouveau pour moi. Sur le circuit du Castellet, il y avait les pilotes du championnat de France. Petit à petit, je me suis amélioré, grâce aux acquisitions de données et aux conseils de mon ingénieur

Te vois-tu rouler en F4 la saison prochaine ?
Oui, j'ai envie de rouler en F4. J'ai 16 ans et si je continue en karting, je vais devoir attendre 2 ou 3 ans pour progresser en international. Ce sera trop tard.

Rentrée des Classes au Pôle France

En septembre, tu vas intégrer le Pôle France Espoir de la FFSA Academy. Tu vas entrer également en seconde. Est-ce que ce sera compliqué pour toi d'alterner les cours et le sport automobile ?
Pas du tout. L'année dernière, en troisième, c'était compliqué. J'étais souvent absent. Je supportais difficilement le rythme. Je pense que maintenant, ce sera mieux, avec notamment des plannings aménagés. En F4, il y a peu de jours de roulage et de courses. Il y aura plus de travail scolaire que si j'étais en karting.

Pour l'avenir, tu souhaiterais quoi ?
J'aimerais être pilote en F1.

Si tu n'arrives pas jusqu'à la F1, as-tu un plan B ?
J'aimerais être pilote professionnel. L'endurance et le GT pourraient être des options aussi mais mon objectif, c'est la F1 !

Un dernier mot pour la fin ?
J'aimerais remercier les personnes qui m’ont aidé à en arriver là cette année.. You started karting at the end of 2016. How did this passion for motorsport came ?
It came thanks to my father. Younger, I wasn't really interest in motorsport. He passed me his passion. He bought me an old kart. We trained on a track and I started to like it. Then we bought a new kart to compete.

Were you afraid to start in this sport?
No, i didn't.

What was your parents' reaction when you said to them "I want to do that"?
My father was extremely happy. My mother was happy too, even if she was a little bit afraid.

This year, you joined the FFSA Academy Junior Karting and you ran in the French FFSA Academy Championship. Can you give us a summary of your first part of the season?
Good. I progressed throughout the season. I finished last in my first race at Le Mans, it was complicated. The level was high. But meetings after meetings, I progressed thanks to my coach and datas acquisition. I gained confidence in myself. I joined the top 5 in the last meetings.
Didier Blot, my coach, helped me to progress. The FFSA also supervises me and it is important for me.

You recently did your first test in F4. How were you selected?
Christophe Lollier, FFSA technical director proposed it to me even if I am still a rookie in karting. I was noticed by the staff of the FFSA Academy during the various meetings in the French Junior Karting Championship. I have done everything possible to progress and I think I had the biggest margin of progress this season.

How was the test ?
I had never driven in a single-seater car, or even in a car. It was new to me. At the Castellet, there were the drivers of the championship of France. Little by little, I improved, thanks to the datas acquisitions and my engineer advices.

Do you see yourself in F4 next season ?
Yes, I want to be there. I'm 16 and if I stay in karting I will have to wait 2 or 3 years to progress worldwide. It will be too late.

In September, you will join the Pole France Espoir of the FFSA Academy. You will also start high school. Will it be difficult for you to alternate between school and motorsport?
Not at all. This past year I was in my last year in middle school, it was difficult. I missed days a lot. I hardly supported the rhythm. I think that now it will be better, including with arranged schedules. In F4, there are few days of driving and racing. There will be more school work than if I were in karting.

What do you want in the future ?
I would like to be an F1 driver.

If you can't make it that far, do you have a plan B ?
I would like to be a professional driver. Endurance and the GT could be options too but my goal is F1!
